Sarah Ehlen RMT, MT
Sarah spent her university years on Vancouver Island and graduated from the University of Victoria in 2011 with a BA in Anthropology and Psychology. During her 5 years at university Sarah worked as a Speed Science Instructor with Adam Plummer, coaching children ages 8-18 in proper running biomechanics and improving overall strength, speed, power and endurance.
With her Undergraduate degree completed Sarah returned to Vancouver and attended The Vancouver College of Massage Therapy of Utopia Academy, graduating with honours in 2013 from the Massage Therapy program.
Along with her Massage Therapy training, Sarah has completed a 3 year mentorship with an Advanced Rolfer to augment her knowledge and understanding of the human body as well as the ability to perform Manual Therapuetics (MT), a system of deep facial techniques.
Sarah has training in visceral (organ) manipulation therapy. Organs can lose mobility due to trauma, surgery, diet, posture, infection, pregnancy etc. When an organ is restricted and fixed to another structure, the body is forced to compensate. This can create abnormal points of tension and chronic irritation causing functional and structural problems throughout the body. Visceral manipulation, is a gentle manual therapy that aids the body's ability to release these restrictions and unhealthy compensations that cause pain and dysfunction.
Sarah has her Therapy 1 Manual Lymph Drainage training which can be used effectively in the treatment of edema, chronic pain, constipation, IBS, headaches, stress, bruising and acne, among other things. Sarah plans to continue her training to become fully certified in Manual Lymph Drainage and Combined Decongestive Therapy.
Sarah believes that a combination of manual therapy and patient education, including stretching and strengthening exercises as well as hydrotherapy are key in helping clients achieve their health care goals and to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
